This interdependence among countries for resources, markets, and workforce has created new education, business, and employment opportunities.

History of Globalization

Globalization has been around for a long time and has been helping human civilization for centuries. The history of globalization has witnessed the evolution from ancient trade routes to the present Internet age.

The early trade and cultural exchange through the Silk Road from China to Europe and the Indian Ocean trade linking India, Africa, and the Middle East were some of the earliest civilizations to be part of the flourishment. 

Between the 1500s and 1800s, explorers such as Vasco de Gama and Columbus set out to discover new lands. The railways, factories, and machines led to the Industrial Revolution and the rise of capitalism. The modern era of globalization has created a path for economic integration digitally with the help of several global organizations being formed.

Types of Globalization

Thus, globalization is categorized into four major types:

1. Economic Globalization 

The increasing interdependence of economies through trade, investment, and the flow of capital has paved the way for the integration of economies. The emergence of a global marketplace through economic integration comprises the union of markets and outsourcing employment opportunities. Companies like Apple, Samsung, and Amazon operate in multiple countries. 

2. Cultural Globalization 

Globalization is not limited to economic reforms; spreading customs, values, traditions, and lifestyles is vital. The influence of music, art, and lifestyle on civilians has been increasing, and with the digital age, it has become rapid. The growth of international events and the adoption of pop culture have brought people closer. Religion was the first cultural element to become part of globalization. According to the 2005 UNESCO report, cultural exchange is more frequent in Eastern Asia, however, western countries are the leading exporters. 

3. Political Globalization 

The increasing cooperation between countries and the establishment of several cooperations, such as the World Trade Organization, World Health Organization, and United Nations, has led to a smooth flow of political integration. The international agreement over serious matters and global efforts towards fighting indecency together. 

4. Technological Globalization 

The internet age has taken over everything, connecting people instantly for personal and professional advancements. The growth of the internet has led to advancements in AI, robotics, commerce, and even transportation. Educational platforms like Coursera and Udemy provide opportunities for many globally. 

 

Effect of Globalization 

The impact of globalization has been both positive and negative. With the increment in trade and technology, several threats are imposed on nature and society.

Since the 1991 economic liberalization, India has gained from globalization. The increment in foreign investments led to the establishment of import and export on an international level.

The growth in various sectors, such as IT and outsourcing industries, has provided plenty of opportunities for entrepreneurship. Global investments have created space for the expansion of MNCs like Google and Amazon and the employment of freshmen. The increased export of spices, textiles, and automobiles has paved the way for global recognition. The cultural exchange through social media platforms has given our rich history a voice for acclamation. This has led to strong tourism and a good relationship with respective global leaders.
