CSEET Registration: Dates, Fees, Documents and the Full Application Walkthrough

Class 12 student checking CSEET registration dates and documents on the ICSI website

The first CS entrance form can feel more complicated than the exam itself. ICSI asks you to register for the course and, later, enrol for a particular exam session. Those are two separate actions with different deadlines and payments. Completing the first does not automatically book your seat for the test.

As of September 2026, CSEET Registration is open for the February 2027 session. The last date to register is 31 October 2026. You will then need to complete the Student Induction Programme (SIP) and submit a separate exam enrolment request. Since June 2026, CSEET has followed a revised, centre-based format, so older advice about taking it from home can mislead you.

This guide covers who should apply, the current fees, documents, the full online application sequence, and what to do after payment. If you are still choosing between entry routes, start with the Company Secretary course pathway.

What registering for CSEET actually does?

The Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) is ICSI’s entry test for eligible students who want to progress to the CS Executive Programme. Registration creates your student record with the Institute. Exam enrolment, completed later, selects the session in which you intend to sit.

This difference matters when you budget and plan. The registration amount covers admission to CSEET, SIP, and ICSI’s online classes. The exam fee is charged separately for each session you enter. ICSI says your registration remains valid for three years from the month you register; it is not a promise of three free exam attempts. Check ICSI’s current CSEET page before acting on a date in an older article.

Who is eligible to register?

You can register if you have passed Class 12 or are appearing for a recognised 10+2 examination or its equivalent. A student awaiting Class 12 results can use the examination admit card or hall ticket as the qualification document. ICSI’s current guidance lists Indian nationals as eligible applicants.

Graduates, postgraduates, and some other eligible candidates may register directly for CS Executive instead. Final-year degree students may also have a provisional direct-entry route. If you have already reached that stage, compare the CS registration pathways before paying for an entrance test you may not need. Passing CSEET alone does not complete CS Executive admission; a Class 12 candidate must also have passed the qualifying school examination before moving on.

CSEET registration last date and exam schedule

For a student applying now, the next relevant CSEET exam date is in February 2027. ICSI schedules the February session in the first week of that month; check its notice for the exact paper dates when the timetable is released. It also holds sessions in June and October. The February 2027 registration and exam-enrolment deadlines are distinct:

Action

February 2027 session

Initial registration closes

31 October 2026

Exam enrolment without late fee

16 November–15 December 2026

Exam enrolment with late fee

16–20 December 2026

Examination

First week of February 2027; exact dates subject to ICSI timetable

Treat 31 October as the admission deadline, not the final day for the exam form. A late fee applies to delayed exam enrolment; it does not extend the earlier registration cut-off. ICSI can revise schedules, so verify the current notice on its website before making payment.

CSEET registration fees: what will you pay?

ICSI’s published registration fee is ₹7,500, including SIP and online classes. Exam enrolment costs ₹1,500 per session. If you enrol during the stated late window, ICSI adds ₹250. For an eligible student paying the standard amounts on time, the initial registration and first exam enrolment total ₹9,000, paid at separate stages. These are ICSI fees, not a coaching fee.

ICSI lists registration-fee concessions for certain categories, including SC/ST candidates, persons with disabilities, and students from specified regions. Exam-fee concessions do not exactly mirror every registration concession. Check the current ICSI fee schedule and submit any required category proof before assuming the checkout total. If you need another exam attempt during your registration’s validity, budget for that session’s examination fee again.

Documents to prepare before opening the form

The ICSI registration instructions ask for scanned or clear digital copies of the following:

  • A recent photograph of the candidate and the candidate’s signature.
  • A Class 10 certificate showing the date of birth.
  • The Class 12 marksheet, or the Class 12 admit card or hall ticket if you are appearing.
  • A category certificate if you are applying under a category other than General.
  • One accepted identity document: Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, PAN card, driving licence, or ration card.

ICSI accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, and PDF files. The portal states a 2 MB maximum per file; the photograph must be 20–50 KB and the signature 10–20 KB. Prepare these in advance rather than shrinking a scan while the payment page is open. Keep compressed scans legible.

ICSI CSEET registration: full online walkthrough

Start on icsi.edu under Online Services, which leads to ICSI’s SMASH registration portal. Use the official link instead of a paid agent or a search advertisement. Follow this sequence:

  • Choose the correct form. Open “Register for CSEET,” read the eligibility and document instructions, tick the required confirmations, and proceed to the registration form. Do not choose CS Executive direct registration unless you qualify for that route.
  • Enter your basic details. Fill in your name, date of birth, contact information, address, qualification status, and applicable category. Use the spelling on your school records. Keep an email address and mobile number you can access throughout the admission process.
  • Review the fee shown. Confirm whether the portal has applied a valid concession. Remember that the separate ₹1,500 examination charge is payable later, during exam enrolment.
  • Upload each document. Match every scan to its requested field. If you are still in Class 12, upload the permitted admit card or hall ticket instead of waiting for final marks.
  • Preview the entire application. Compare your name, birth date, qualification, category, contact details, and uploaded files with the originals.
  • Confirm and pay through the portal. Select an available payment option, complete the transaction, and wait for the confirmation screen. A generated transaction ID by itself is not proof that payment succeeded.
  • Save your records. Download or print the acknowledgement and payment receipt. Note the registration details sent to your email or phone, and check your application status if the payment appears pending.

If the gateway times out, check your portal status and bank transaction before trying again. Keep the transaction reference. For unresolved issues, use ICSI’s support channel shown on the official portal; repeated payments can create a separate refund problem.

What to do after the registration payment?

First, complete the Student Induction Programme before attempting exam enrolment. ICSI requires the one-day SIP within one month of registration. Students sometimes focus on the four papers and overlook this required step. Read the ICSI SIP guide and arrange it soon after registration, leaving time for your completion status to appear.

Next, return during the February 2027 exam-enrolment window, choose the session and available centre, and pay the exam fee. Check the final submission and keep its receipt. Later, watch the ICSI portal for your admit card and the confirmed timetable. Registration, SIP completion, exam enrolment, and the admit card are separate checkpoints; save evidence of each.

Know the papers before choosing your attempt

The restructured ICSI CSEET is a centre-based, four-paper exam. Business Communication, Fundamentals of Accounting, and Economic and Business Environment are three-hour written papers. Business Laws and Management is a two-hour OMR paper. Each paper carries 100 marks.

You need at least 40% in each paper and 50% overall in one sitting. There is no paper-wise carry-forward. That is why a student strong in Business Communication should not leave Accounting until the final few weeks. Start writing answers and solving accounting problems early; an old all-MCQ preparation plan no longer matches three of the four CSEET subjects. The Business Communication study guide can help you build a realistic weekly routine.

Plan the CS journey beyond this form

CSEET is an entry requirement, not a job qualification or a salary milestone. The next stages are CS Executive, CS Professional, and the applicable training requirements. After passing, register for Executive within one year while your CSEET result remains valid. Qualified Company Secretaries may work in compliance, governance, company law, and related advisory roles, but opportunities and pay depend on skills, location, experience, and the employer. Choose this path because the work interests you, not because an entrance-test advertisement promises a salary.

Before you submit CSEET Registration, check eligibility, the 31 October deadline, document quality, and your budget for both payments. Then reserve time for SIP and the later exam form. If you need help matching the attempt to your Class 12 calendar, IIC Lakshya’s Company Secretary course guidance can help you plan the next academic steps.
