CS Registration is an important step for anyone planning to pursue the Company Secretary course. Although ICSI accepts registrations throughout the year, specific cut-off dates determine when a student becomes eligible to appear for the examination. Missing the relevant deadline can delay the planned attempt by several months.

The registration requirements for the Executive and Professional Programmes follow a defined schedule. However, the eligibility conditions, fees, and required documents differ at each stage. Students must also remember that programme registration and examination enrolment are separate processes.

What CS Registration Covers at Each Level?

The CS course runs through three stages, and each has its own admission step.

CSEET is the entrance test for students entering after Class 12.
The Executive Programme carries seven papers across two groups.
The Professional Programme is the final academic stage before membership.

One distinction matters more than any other. Registration admits you to a programme. Exam enrolment is a separate form that you submit for each session, along with the examination fee. Many students assume the first takes care of the second.

Your ICSI registration stays valid for five years from the month of admission. Within that period, you may appear in up to ten examination sessions. If the registration lapses, you must apply for registration de-novo and pay again, so treat that five-year clock as part of your planning.

Who Can Apply for CS Executive Registration?

ICSI allows two main entry routes, and your route determines both your fees and paperwork.

CSEET route: Clear the entrance test, then apply for CS Executive Registration.
Direct entry: Graduates and postgraduates can skip CSEET.
CA Final and CMA Final-qualified candidates also receive direct entry.
Final-year or final-semester degree students may register provisionally and submit their results later.
ICSI prescribes no minimum graduation percentage for direct entry.

Here is a misreading we correct often. A commerce background on its own does not earn the exemption. A B.Com student in the second year still has to clear CSEET. Only a completed degree—or provisional eligibility in the final year or semester—opens the graduate direct-entry route. CS Executive Registration Date and Cut-Offs

ICSI fixes cut-offs so that every student gets a minimum study period before writing the papers. Under the current ICSI cut-off calendar, the CS Executive registration last date follows this pattern:

June exams, both groups: register by 30 November of the previous year.
June exams, single group: register by 31 January.
December exams, both groups: register by 31 May.
December exams, single group: register by 31 July.

So, the CS Executive registration form last date for the June 2027 session, both groups, is 30 November 2026. That window is currently open on the ICSI portal. Register in December 2026 instead, and your earliest attempt becomes a single group in June 2027, provided you apply by 31 January.

CS Executive exam registration for December 2026—more precisely, exam enrolment—is a separate matter. According to the December 2026 exam-enrolment instructions, the form closes on 25 September 2026 without a late fee and on 10 October 2026 with a late fee of ₹250. The papers begin on 21 December 2026.

Requirements for CS Professional Registration

Only one academic condition applies at this stage. You must clear both groups of CS Executive, scoring at least 40% in every paper and 50% in aggregate in each group.

The remaining requirements for CS Professional registration are procedural:

Statement of marks for both Executive groups, uploaded during registration
A valid, unexpired Executive registration number
Your elective subjects, selected during registration

Two requirements are often confused with Professional registration. The online pre-examination test under Syllabus 2022 must be completed before exam enrolment. TDOP applies to students registered in the Executive Programme on or after 1 February 2025 and is a prerequisite for submitting the Executive examination form.

Students who have cleared Executive but allowed their registration to expire cannot move directly to the next stage. They must complete registration de-novo before proceeding to the Professional Programme.

CS Professional Registration Process and Last Date

The CS Professional registration procedure runs entirely online through the ICSI student portal.

Log in to your student account.
Open Professional Registration under the payment request option.
Upload the mark sheets for both Executive groups.
Select your elective subjects.
Pay online, then save the acknowledgement and transaction ID.

The last date for CS Professional registration follows the same calendar as Executive:

30 November for both groups in the June session
31 January for a single group in June
31 May for both groups in December
31 July for a single group in December

Executive results usually come out in late February and late August. That leaves a limited window before the next cut-off, so keep your documents scanned and ready before results day rather than waiting until afterwards.

ICSI CS Executive Registration Fees

ICSI revised its fee schedule in 2026, which means older fee tables still circulating online are now out of date. Under the current ICSI fee schedule, the ICSI CS Executive registration fees are as follows.

Students entering through CSEET or CS Foundation:

Registration fee: ₹2,000
Education fee: ₹12,900
Pre-examination test fee: ₹1,000
Three-day Orientation Programme: ₹2,500
Chartered Secretary journal subscription, optional: ₹500
Total with the optional journal subscription: ₹18,900

Direct-entry candidates pay the same heads, plus a CSEET exemption fee of ₹5,000, bringing the total to ₹23,900 when the optional journal subscription is included.

Examination fees sit outside this amount. Executive students pay ₹1,500 per group for every attempt, with a ₹250 late fee if the form is submitted after the first deadline. A 50% concession applies to eligible SC/ST and differently abled students. Candidates writing from the Dubai centre pay an additional US$100.

CS Professional Registration Fees and Exam Costs

Total CS Professional registration fees: ₹20,000
Examination fee: ₹1,800 per group, per attempt

How to Register for CS Executive Online?

Filling the CS registration form usually takes under an hour when your documents are scanned and ready.

Open student registration on the ICSI website.
Select the Executive Programme and your entry route.
Enter your personal, academic and address details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
Upload your photograph, signature, Class 10 certificate for proof of date of birth, Class 12 mark sheet, degree proof for direct entry, and identity proof.
Attach a category certificate if you are claiming a concession.
Pay the fee online and note the transaction ID.
Download the acknowledgement, then check your registration number in your account.

Verification may take a few working days. Watch your registered email, as ICSI may ask for a clearer scan or a corrected document. Exam enrolment and later student services are handled through the SMASH student portal, so keep those login details safe.

Mistakes That Cost Students an Attempt

Confusing registration with enrolment. Registered students still miss papers by skipping the examination form.
Registering a few days late. An application submitted on 2 June pushes a both-group attempt from December to the following June.
Postponing the pre-examination test or applicable orientation. These requirements must be completed before you can enrol for the relevant exams.
Booking both groups when only one is realistic. Splitting the groups is a planning choice, not a weakness.
Letting registration lapse in year five. You will then have to pay the prescribed de-novo fee to continue.
Creating name or date-of-birth mismatches. Differences between your certificates and the form can hold up verification.
