Choosing where to begin your ACCA career is as important as choosing your first role. Kerala and the Gulf both offer opportunities in accounting and finance, but the right starting point depends on your exam progress, practical experience and career goals.
For students exploring ACCA jobs, comparing salaries is only part of the decision. Study support, living costs and the experience you gain also matter. A role that helps you complete your exams and build relevant skills can prepare you for better opportunities later.
This guide compares ACCA job opportunities in Kerala and the Gulf, covering common roles, indicative salaries and what to consider at each career stage. New to the qualification? Start with our ACCA course overview to understand the papers and exemptions.
Infopark in Kochi and Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram host shared service centres and Big 4 delivery teams, with Cyberpark in Kozhikode adding to the state's wider employment options. Kerala is also working to expand its global capability centre (GCC) sector, where finance and accounting teams are among the potential employers.
Many students searching for ACCA jobs in Kochi miss another group of employers. Plenty of small firms here do bookkeeping, VAT returns and corporate tax filings for UAE clients. The starting pay may be modest, but you pick up Gulf compliance work while keeping living costs manageable.
Most ACCA jobs for freshers in Kerala come under one of these:
Bengaluru and Chennai generally offer a wider pool of openings when you look at ACCA jobs in India for freshers overall. Kerala's plus point is that you can take one of these ACCA fresher jobs in India without paying metro rent, especially if you live with family. Interviews for ACCA part qualified jobs in Kerala often include an Excel test, some IFRS basics, and a conversation in English that counts for more than students expect. A candidate with six papers can lose to one with four who explains their work better.
Pay varies considerably by employer, role and relevant experience, so use these as indicative planning ranges rather than expected offers:
What a salary slip won't show is whether the role supports your Practical Experience Requirement (PER). ACCA requires 36 months of supervised experience in a relevant accounting or finance role, alongside the required performance objectives. A suitable Kerala job can help you build this experience while still writing exams; check that appropriate supervision and sign-off are available.
Most ACCA jobs in Middle East countries that our students go after are in the UAE. The UAE introduced corporate tax for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023, with a standard 9% rate on taxable income above AED 375,000, alongside its 5% VAT system. E-invoicing is being introduced in phases, with mandatory implementation scheduled from January 2027 for larger businesses and July 2027 for smaller businesses within scope. These changes make IFRS knowledge, compliance experience and familiarity with accounting systems increasingly relevant. Check the UAE Ministry of Finance's e-invoicing guidance for the applicable requirements.
Openings mostly show up in accounting roles at trading, logistics and real estate firms, audit with mid-tier firms, and VAT or corporate tax compliance. For planning purposes, part-qualified roles may fall around AED 4,000–7,000 a month, while some experienced member-level roles may offer AED 10,000–18,000. Actual offers can fall outside these ranges, so compare responsibilities and benefits carefully. The UAE does not levy personal income tax on employment salaries, but rent and other living costs can take a substantial share of your pay.
They exist, including with small firms. ACCA jobs in Dubai with the Big 4 or large groups can include trainee openings, though many experienced roles favour affiliates or members with relevant work behind them. We hear the same story every year: a student flies over on a visit visa with three or four papers, spends six weeks and a chunk of savings on interviews, and keeps being asked about “UAE experience”.
Since 27 October 2025, Saudi private firms with five or more accountants must fill 40% of roles across the covered accounting professions with Saudi nationals, rising progressively to 70% over five years. The policy covers 44 accounting professions (KPMG summary). Indian ACCA members can still pursue opportunities there, though localisation requirements affect the roles employers can offer.
Kerala often works better early on, while the Gulf can become more attractive once you have relevant experience.

Your current ACCA stage can help you identify suitable roles and plan your next career move.
Staying in Kerala is often the practical choice for now. Your main job at this stage is passing exams on time. Applied Skills is where ACCA gets harder, and students working long hours without study leave can get stuck there. Start logging PER from your first relevant job too. The redesigned qualification's Foundations and Knowledge exams begin in July 2027, followed by Expertise and Strategic Professional exams in September. ACCA's future qualification page explains how your passes carry over.
Now's the time to explore ACCA part qualified jobs at Kerala GCCs, Big 4 delivery centres and outsourcing firms. Ask about study leave in the interview, because an extra ₹5,000 a month means little if you can't sit your papers. If a Gulf offer turns up, check that it comes with an employment visa, a written job description and some study support.
The UAE starts making real sense here, particularly once you have relevant experience. ACCA jobs in UAE firms at this level often ask for IFRS reporting, hands-on VAT or corporate tax work, and experience with an ERP such as SAP or Oracle. If your Kochi years were spent on UAE client files, your CV already speaks their language.
Financial controller and FP&A manager roles may become realistic options in both places, depending on the depth of your experience. As GCCs build leadership teams in Kerala, going abroad becomes a choice rather than the default. The decision comes down to savings, family, and where you want to settle.
A quick reality check:
ACCA keeps a list of member recognition agreements worth checking first. Recognition arrangements do not automatically provide work rights or a local licence. ACCA Global For many of our students, the ACCA job prospects worth exploring follow a familiar path: Kerala first, the Gulf with experience, and the UK, Canada or Australia later, if those destinations fit their plans.
Our counsellors at IIC Lakshya hear some version of these every admission season:
There isn't one right answer, and useful advice starts with your exam progress, experience and circumstances. For many students, starting in Kerala offers a practical way to finish exams and build PER before looking at the Gulf with relevant experience. The ACCA jobs worth chasing at 21 are rarely the ones worth chasing at 27.
