The ICSI pass percentage is one of the first figures students review after each examination session. It gives a broad picture of how many candidates cleared a particular group. Still, the number alone doesn't explain the exam's difficulty, candidates' preparation levels, or an individual student’s chances of success.

For students preparing for CS Executive or CS Professional, session-wise pass percentage trends can be useful when viewed in the right context. Comparing results across several sessions helps you understand fluctuations between groups and syllabi without judging the course based on a single examination.

This article presents the CS pass percentage data for Executive and Professional from 2022 through the June 2026 results. It also explains what these figures show, what they leave out, and how you can use them while planning your next attempt. What That One Number Is Counting?

A pass percentage sounds precise. It is less precise than students assume.

The institute reports it group by group, not student by student. So, one candidate can appear in the pass column for Group 2 and the fail column for Group 1 in the same session. The denominator counts everyone who appeared for the group, including the student who finished half the syllabus and wrote three papers out of four simply to get the feel of it.

The qualifying rules also punish small slips hard:

40% in every paper of the group
50% in the group aggregate
Both conditions met in one sitting, subject to applicable paper-wise exemptions

Score 72 in one paper and 38 in another, and the group is gone. That single rule explains a large share of the volatility you are about to see in the tables.

Older batches wrote Syllabus 2017, and the passing percentage of CS Executive under that syllabus followed a separate path altogether.

Reading the Executive Trend

Notice first that the CS Executive pass percentage 2022 sessions were already in single digits for Module 1. December 2022 recorded 9.05%. The June session before it recorded 8.76%. The syllabus change did not invent the difficulty; it inherited it.

December 2023 was the low point for the new pattern, with roughly seven candidates in every hundred clearing either group. Then the numbers climbed. June 2024 lifted Group 2 past 20%, and from December 2024 onward, the CS Executive passing percentage for Group 1 has remained at roughly 15% to 18%.

One detail confuses thousands of students every year. In the CS Executive pass percentage 2024 sessions, two syllabi ran side by side. That is why you will find a figure near 28% and another near 16% quoted for the same examination month. Both are genuine. They belong to different syllabi and question papers.

The steadiest pattern in the dataset is that Group 2 has finished ahead of Group 1 in every new-syllabus session so far. Counsellors see some possible reasons in the classroom. Group 1 contains several law-heavy papers, including Company Law and Setting Up of Business, where marks depend on precise recall and structured application. Group 2 includes capital markets, economic and commercial laws, and tax, so the nature of preparation is different. Still, pass percentages alone cannot prove that one group is inherently easier.

CS Professional Pass Percentage by Session

The final level behaves very differently.

Under the older pattern, the passing percentage of CS Professional stayed in roughly the same band. December 2024 recorded 35.81%, 34.09%, and 36.20% across the three modules. June 2025 came in at 29.60%, 28.83%, and 28.50%. June 2024 recorded 31.13%, 30.16%, and 32.18%.

June 2026 produced the strongest CS Professional passing percentage for Group 1 under Syllabus 2022 in this dataset. Close to one candidate in three cleared the group.

Why the Final Level Looks Easier on Paper?

It is not. The candidates are simply different.

Everyone sitting for Professional has already survived a demanding academic filter. Many have also started training and seen a board resolution or compliance calendar in practice. A higher CS passing rate at the top of the course reflects a more experienced group of candidates, not a gentler examiner.

Using the Data Before You Register

Here is where the numbers earn their keep.

Given the persistent gap between the two Executive groups, a working student with limited study hours may consider clearing Group 2 first and keeping Group 1 for a session with more preparation time. That is a scheduling decision, not an admission of weakness. Your subject strengths and available study hours should still guide the final choice.

Check your own marksheet properly too. If you score 60% or more in a paper, appear in all papers of the group, and meet the minimum marks required in the remaining papers, you may qualify for paper-wise exemption in a future attempt. The exact conditions should always be checked against the current ICSI rules.

If you appear for both groups together, score at least 40% in every paper, and secure 50% across all papers combined, the combined aggregate or set-off provision may still help you clear both groups. Not satisfied with your marks? Verification usually opens shortly after the ICSI result pass percentage is published, with a fee of ₹250 per paper.

What the CS result pass percentage cannot show you is equally worth knowing. It never reveals how many candidates completed the syllabus, how many attempted every question, or how many were on their third attempt. Treat one bad session as noise. Wait for two or three sessions before calling it a trend.

Comparing an old-syllabus number with a new-syllabus number and concluding that the exam has become harder
Believing the CS exam pass percentage works like a quota when no cap on passes exists
Postponing registration while waiting for an easier session that nobody can predict
Ignoring ICSI guideline answers and past papers, which reveal the expected answer structure far better than any pass rate
Taking both groups without a weekly plan and then being surprised when both remain uncleared

A small observation from years of evaluating repeat attempts: poor presentation can cost students more marks than they realise. Headings, section references, and a clear sequence matter. An organised average answer can outscore a knowledgeable but unreadable one.
